The young people and their families are valued at Montgomery for whose they are and their contribution to the life of the church. Our young people and their families are engaged in a process that continually seeks fuller expression of their hearts, minds, souls and bodies in relationship to God and this broken world. They delight in using their minds and bodies as creative agents in our world. Many of our young people and their families have shared “they are being used by God for His purposes,” or “God is working through me.” We are proud of our students and parents who work contrary to the dominant culture.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 tells us that “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” The youth and family ministry builds that same truss bridge with God and our families. We believe that our parents are the single best way to spiritually influence our young people. Because of this, we have formed a partnership where they lead in education and activities we provide. We cultivate in the character of our students’ and parents’ minds, hearts, soul and bodies a receptivity to God’s unique and gracious self-giving. Our young people and families open themselves to the crucial source of nourishment that only God provides. Our young people and their parents live distinctive lives as disciples and seek learning at Montgomery that provides a lens for interpreting the world.
